Are you in love with the Mercedes AMG GT but do you need more space for luggage and children? No problem, the Stuttgart house also solves this problem by churning out a new version of AMG GT but this time 4 doors satisfying the tastes and needs of any customer.

It is a 5.05m long car, 1.95m wide, 1.44m high and a wheelbase of 2.95m, all moving the weight hand to 2140kg, a really heavy car. Seeing it in terms of size and structure, one might think that it borrows the technical base from the Mercedes CLS, but actually uses the class E as a guide, of course, in the AMG version.

From the aesthetic point of view, the rear is very rounded and slightly lighter, making the overall aesthetic slightly heavier but pushing towards an idea of greater importance and aggressiveness for the car. The optical groups are developed with a horizontal geometry with a very thin and sharp design, the lower part develops an extractor with integrated 4 important trapezoidal drains (from the dark and diabolical noise) and two very thin vertical air intakes on both the sides of the rear. On the upper part, at the end of the rear window, an electrically adaptive is developed. Finally, the electro-actuated trunk has a capacity of 460 liters.

The front

The front is the element that most resembles the sister AMG GT. Many air intakes and all of important dimensions are found: those at the sides of the front with a three-dimensional shape, the one in the low central area near the extractor that integrates a gate mechanism to increase or decrease the flow of air to the engine and finally, the huge “shark” grille with integrated vertical chrome stems and the star logo.

The latter is the element of greatest presence as far as the front is concerned and thanks to the design adopted greatly increases the perception of aggressiveness in the car. The headlights have a shape already seen in the latest models in the Mercedes price list, they adopt full LED technology and a luminous band for daytime lighting that enhances the overall look. The bonnet is elongated with 3 particularly pronounced ribs.

The sidecut

The side of the car is perhaps the most “clean” and detached from the pursuit of sportiness and aggressiveness that is perceived in front and rear. There are no important ribs or air intakes, just a small vent at the front wheel arch with chrome surround and side skirts also in chrome finish. 21-inch wheels with 380mm discs are then mounted bitten by a 6-piston caliper.

The interiors use a great variety of materials with particular configurations with color combinations. Opening the doors with frames without frames, the aesthetics of the door panel stand out: the upper part uses leather with contrasting stitching, in the center there is a carbon fiber finish with an integrated opening handle and relative aluminum seat adjustments , the lower area of the panel uses the skin again.

Very nice at the time of entering the passenger compartment the aluminum door sill with the amg lettering engraved on it. Once accommodated inside the 4-door AMG GT you find different materials that bring you very close to the design of a Sma class with an extra pinch of grit. The quality, ergonomics and sophistication of the design are concrete and clearly visible to the eye, elements purely in line with the German style of a premium car.

Sitting in the front, comfort is good in this 4-door Mercedes AMG GT, thanks to a good wheelbase that allows a smooth entry and exit from the car but above all thanks to very comfortable seats with an enlarged seat and non-invasive lateral sides. At the rear of the passenger compartment, there is the same feeling. The passenger does not easily perceive differences in habitability except for the limited head space required by the car’s coupe line.

Technology always at the top of excellence

The infotainment used is the MBUX already present in many Mercedes models. It is developed with two 12-inch screens integrated horizontally in the dashboard of the car. It provides so many functions thanks also to the LTE module that allows you to always be connected with what happens outside.

The central tunnel integrates the touchpad for managing the infotainment, the gearbox and the touchscreen buttons (arranged as two heads of a v8 engine, 4 buttons on one side and 4 on the other) for selecting the driving mode, for setting the shock absorbers , engine / steering response, spoiler control and many other functions. The steering wheel integrates physical keys for infotainment management and a mini rotor for controlling the different mappings. Even in the rear passenger compartment, there is no lack of a bi-touch touchscreen climate and technological “goodies” such as wireless charging for smartphones placed in the middle between the two seats.

The four-wheel drive is 4matic plus with the function of the four steering wheels. The transmission adopts an MTC transmission (multi clutch transmission) of 9 ratios, which does not lend itself to being a double clutch or a converter.
