Mechanics and technology in the best Porsche tradition

The motto of the 718 Boxster seems to be “to have fun safely”. Fast, powerful and agile, it does not regret the 6 cylinders and, also due to the central positioning of the engine which gives a better weight balance, it guarantees an extraordinary road holding and excellent maneuverability, on any path, responding promptly to the different styles driving.

Both front and rear suspensions are produced by McPherson, specially optimized by Porsche. Power and speed of braking are entrusted to the four-piston, fixed monobloc calipers, both front and rear. The ventilated and perforated front discs have a diameter of 330 mm, while the rear ones are 299 mm. The 718 Boxster is equipped with a new version of the PSM automatic adjustment system (Porsche Stability Management) for better stability, and ABS for an optimal braking capacity.

The direct steering of the 718 Boxster 718, electrically servo-assisted, has a faster reduction ratio. In addition to the standard power steering, the Plus power steering is offered as an option, which considerably increases maneuverability at low speeds, with particular regard to parking.

The circles are 18 inches. The 8 J x 18 ET 57 front wheels are fitted with 235/45 ZR18 94 Y tires, while the 9,5JX18ET49 rear wheels are equipped with 265/45 ZR18 101 Y tires that increase extraordinary cornering grip. The spoiler rises automatically, once the speed of 120 km / h is reached. Bi-Xenon headlights have integrated LED daytime running lights. Alternatively, LED spotlights with four-point headlights are available as options.

Porsche 718 Boxster: great thrills en-plein-air

Exceptional steering, PDK gearbox (highly recommended) and electronic shock absorbers (optional), give the 718 Boxster an extraordinary fluidity and driving comfort, even in city traffic and on different types of flooring. Visibility when the hood is raised is not the best, and it is advisable to install the rear camera and parking sensors.

The great stability, the braking power, the immediacy of the gearbox and the precision of the steering, make it a unique experience even in extra-urban routes, in which to attack the curves in complete safety.

On motorways it is advisable to travel with the top closed, in order to obtain good sound insulation. Concerns have been raised on several sides about the sound of the engine, evidently different from that of the 6-cylinder engine to which Porsche had accustomed us but, at a high rpm, the roar of the small 718 Boxster does not fail to give great emotions.

Comfort and multimedia

The very low position of the seats allows a good use of space, making the passenger compartment comfortable. A wide range of coatings and finishes is offered, as well as electric adjustment of the seats with maximum precision. The overall capacity of the two luggage compartments, front and rear, is 275 liters, although, due to conformations, they do not allow the loading of large single luggage. Proposed as standard the “Porsche Communication Management” multimedia system, with 7-inch touch-screen infotainment, and typical tablet features. Among the options we find the Connect Plus system, which allows you to manage the apps of your iPhone and creates a Wi-Fi network to which you can connect different devices. Via GPS (also optional) it can provide updated traffic information.
